Compared with the line and surface contact processing, its programming is relatively simple , the amount of calculation is small, and the interference can be avoided as long as the tool radius is smaller than the minimum curvature radius of the surface. Therefore it is suitable for processing any curved surface. However, due to the point contact forming, the cutting speed at the cutting point approaches zero, so the cutting conditions are poor, and the machining accuracy and efficiency are low.

(2) Surface contact The so-called surface contact processing refers to the processing method of surface contact forming, such as end milling (grinding) processing. The main features of this processing method are: due to the high cutting speed and large cycle feed at the cutting point, it has high processing efficiency and precision. However, due to the influence of the molding method and the shape of the tool, it is mainly suitable for the processing of curved surfaces with relatively flat convex curvature changes.

The use of five-axis linkage machine tools makes it easier to clamp workpieces. There is no need for special fixtures during processing, which reduces the cost of fixtures, avoids multiple clamping, and improves the precision of mold processing. Using five-axis technology to process molds can reduce the number of fixtures used. In addition, since the five-axis linkage machine tool can save many special tools during processing, the tool cost is reduced. The five-axis linkage machine tool can increase the effective cutting edge length of the tool during processing, reduce the cutting force, improve the service life of the tool, and reduce the cost. Ball end milling is commonly used in modern mold processing. The benefits of ball end milling in mold processing are obvious, but if a vertical machining center is used, the linear speed of the bottom surface is zero. , so that the finish of the bottom surface is very poor.
